For five years, author and photographer Alan “Jake” Jacobs has spent
countless days and nights on the streets of Chicago as he was allowed entry
into the close-knit groups of the city's fire fighters, sharing in the complexity, the quiet giving, the
traditions, humor, pride, and the dedication. Motivated by 9/11 he set out
to understand and explain the people and their work.
His new book, Thank God for These
Guys: Chicago’s Firemen on the Job, featuring over 250
unique photographs representing the most intimate moments in the lives of
these often invisible men and women, will is available from MT Publishing.
